Pjila'si! Welcome to Documenting Mi'kmaw Sovereignty
This is a prototype project in development by Thomas Peace of Huron University College and Gillian Allen of Kwilmu’kw Maw-klusuaqn Negotiation Office (KMKNO), also known as the Mi’kmaq Rights Initiative.
Our vision is to provide a springboard to develop a Mi’kmaw owned and directed website which will permit Mi’kmaq, scholars, students and the public to see the words of the Mi’kmaq which demonstrate that the people never forgot they were and are a self-governing people.
We are grateful to the Assembly of Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Chiefs for their support of this project and for the support of the many Mi’kmaw and non-Mi’kmaw individuals who have volunteered to help this project get off the ground.
